Data We Collect
TensorFit collects the following data types to power its features. Here is exactly what each category covers and how it is used.
Contact Info
Used to personalise your coaching experience and display your profile.
Used for account creation, sign-in, and password recovery via Firebase Authentication.
Health & Fitness
Body metrics you enter (weight, height, age) used to personalise AI coaching, goal tracking, and workout recommendations.
Your workout logs — exercises, sets, reps, weights, and rest times — stored to power your progress tracking and records.
User Content
Videos you record or upload for AI form analysis. Raw footage is processed by our backend for pose detection and feedback, then deleted from AWS S3 within 24 hours. Pose-skeleton overlay videos generated during analysis are stored in your personal Firebase Cloud Storage space under your account.
Identifiers
A unique identifier (generated by Firebase Auth) used to securely associate your data with your account across devices. Analytics use applies to the web version of the app only; the iOS app does not send analytics events.
Surroundings
Camera data used during AI form analysis to detect your body position and movement in the environment. Only processed during an active form analysis session.
Body
Hand position detected via MediaPipe Pose Landmarker during form analysis to evaluate grip, elbow angle, and bar path.
Head and neck position detected during form analysis to assess alignment and posture during lifts.
Diagnostics
Crash reports collected to identify and fix bugs that affect app stability.
Aggregated, anonymous performance metrics (load times, API latency) used to improve the app. This data is never associated with your account.
Logs related to specific feature errors (e.g. sync failures, AI request errors) used to debug and resolve issues for your account.
How We Use Your Data
All data collected by TensorFit is used for one or more of the following purposes:
- App Functionality — To deliver core features: workout logging, set and rep tracking, rest timers, progress charts, and workout history.
- Personalization — To tailor AI coaching feedback, goal recommendations, and workout suggestions to your fitness level, goals, and history.
- Analytics — To understand how features are used at an aggregate level so we can improve the app experience. We use only your anonymous User ID for this purpose.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising or share it with third-party marketers.
Where Your Data Lives
TensorFit uses a hybrid local-first storage model:
- On your device — Your workout logs, settings, and preferences are stored locally using AsyncStorage. The app works fully offline; cloud sync is an enhancement, not a requirement.
- Firebase (Google Cloud) — When you sign in, your data is synced to Firestore so you can restore it on a new device. Pose-skeleton overlay videos from form analysis sessions are stored in Firebase Cloud Storage under your account. Only you can access your own data — Firebase security rules enforce strict per-user access control.
- AWS (Amazon Web Services) — Raw videos you upload for form analysis are temporarily stored in Amazon S3 with a strict 24-hour expiry. They are deleted automatically, never shared, and never used for training AI models.
Third-Party Services
TensorFit integrates with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:
- Firebase Authentication, Firestore & Cloud Storage (Google) — Account management, cloud data sync, and secure storage of form-analysis session videos under your account.
- Anthropic Claude API — Powers the AI Form Coach feature. Video frame snapshots and exercise context are sent to Anthropic's Claude model to generate form feedback. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API — Powers the Ask Coach conversational chat feature. Your workout history and questions are sent to Gemini to generate coaching responses. Governed by Google's API terms.
- Amazon Web Services (S3 & Lambda) — Hosts the backend API that processes form analysis requests and stores raw video uploads temporarily (deleted within 24 hours).
- ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech infrastructure, retained for potential future features. Not actively used in the current version of the app.
- Apple Sign-In / Google Sign-In — Optional single sign-on. We receive only your name and email from these providers.
Your Rights & Controls
- Access your data — All your workout logs and settings are visible directly inside the app.
- Delete your data — You can delete all local data at any time via Settings → Delete All Data. Deleting your account removes your data from Firestore permanently.
- Revoke camera access — You can revoke TensorFit's camera permission at any time in your iPhone's Settings. Form analysis requires camera access; all other features work without it.
- Sign out — Signing out stops cloud sync. Your data remains on-device until you explicitly delete it.
Children's Privacy
TensorFit is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of TensorFit after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. For significant changes, we will notify you within the app.
